Her Obsession | Notebooks

July 27, 2012

Guys, I have a problem – every time I see a pretty notebook, I’ve got to have it. No one can hold me back – well except for myself. Especially if that beauty isn’t cheap or on sale!! I’ve had this problem ever since I could write – diaries, journals, school notebooks, etc. I practiced my handwriting like it was my job, just so my diaries could be pretty inside too. (I almost had a meltdown over my handwriting when I was little – hah.)  Can you tell I’m a perfectionist yet? ;) Click more for sneak peeks into my darkest secrets – psssh NOT.  Sorry… I’m not that interesting! Enjoy!

Inside my fave notebooks, starting from the bottom left;

A simple tan leather Pierre Belvédère transformed into a beautiful glittering notebook with Katie’s Fashion Illustration. (Summer Leopard) It now holds all my lovely penpals addresses & birthdays! Help me fill it up by being my penpal? ;) $3.00 – $5.00

Next is my lovely “Keep Calm and Carry On” Inspiration journal  – love it! It’s by Peter Pauper Press $o.oo (gift!!) I see Miss Cathie! xxo (she’s my other Diana to my Anne!!)

Can’t forget my Fashionary sketchbook/fashion dictionary! I transformed it with another one of Katie’s Fashion Illustrations (Scarlet Red) and some nautical gift wrap. $0.00 (gift!!)

My first official “big girl” diary – this is actually the first one I’ve finished too! I started it in ’08 and finished it in ’10. I had taken it with me to the hospital during my mental breakdown. It’s always very interesting to read and reflect on how far I’ve come. I got some of the other patients (I considered my friends during my stay) to sign the back of my journal as if it was a yearbook. Great thing to read on a down day! :)  This is by C.R Gibson. $19.99 (splurge!!)

I just got this beauty recently at Chapters after eyeing it for a while – and it was on sale! It’s a To-Do list notebook with boxes for you to check off. I adore it. By Pierre Belvédère  $3.98

After seeing the above notebook I was in peacock heaven, and then I saw this one! It was perfect to get me back into journalling again – I was just getting out of a depression then. It was on sale too – I was sold, of course! By Fringe Studio  $5.00

And last, but certainly not least – my “Blog Love” book.  I originally bought this in Stratford Ontario as a simple lime green notebook. I used it for miscellaneous musings and then eventually it turned into the lovely book it is now. It contains a bucket list for P.E.I, bucket list for NYC, my blog planner & goals, and a bunch of other things. Not sure who it was by, but it was another splurge! $15.00-20.00 (?)

Do you collect notebooks? If not – what is your obsession/collection?

Look at me peeping out! :D

    ♥ I do feel ‘speshul’!

Peacock-ish things have never really caught my eye, but that embossed peacock feather one is actually calling to me!

You do have a lovely knack of dressing things up so nicely, and my favourite peek was at your fashion sketches!

P.S. I used to collect notebooks, but as my bosom friend said best, I offer them up to the fire gods… so I don’t anymore. ;)

Hahah! Good, that was my goal!! :) <3

I only like non-tacky peacock things, trust me – there's so much horrible peacock items out there!! I just bought a lovely necklace recently though! :D

Thanks Cathie, and awwwe – now I feel 'speshul' that means a lot to me!!

Haha! I have a notebook obsession too! I keep most of my notebooks that I had in high school. I still have a notebook full of peoms and other stuff I did in Creative Writing. I have a notebook full of songs & short stories. You are DEFINITELY not alone. Lol :)

SO glad I’m not alone. I’m finding out that many people have a notebook obsession, they just keep making them look so good!! Ohh that’s awesome, I like looking through my old ones – so neat!! :) Keep smiling!

I have like a whole stack of probably 7 notebooks on my book shelf. Three more by my book shelf and one by my bed if I ever need it–but I haven’t use it in forever. Lol :)

Haha oh my! You’ve got me beat! I have a few more that I don’t use, and of course old ones – but I enjoy these most! xxo Thanks for sharing!!

haha I collect notebooks too nat! Well – maybe not collect them, but I love a fresh notebook. They are just soo beautiful! :P I get to put all my prayers and things I have learned about the Bible in them. Then I get to go back and read how God has answered my prayers and see all these awesome verses and thoughts to refresh me. A chapter a day keeps the devil away! :D

Yay!! They’re the best. (I love the smell of a new notebook or book too!) & they sure are, paper-goods are just too pretty. That’s a great idea! :) Love it!

You’re not alone in loving notebooks. My Mum and I also suffer from this disorder. In fact, I just counted the ones I have in the basket next to my desk and it came to 21. So sad. And that’s just the ones in this room…

    • July 29, 2012 8:03 PM

Oh boy!! That’s crazy – I have no idea how much I have, but over the years it’s probably too many! (you can never have enough though!!) Thanks for reading! xxo

Too funny…I have the same obsession and even own two of the same ones as you! I thought buying the iPad would help me go paperless but I still love notebooks!

Really?! Which ones?? I’m guessing the “Keep Calm” one, and hmmm… The Peacock To-Do list? No idea, haha! I could never go paperless, I would die!

      Keep smiling!! xxo

Nat I am obsessed with notebooks too! I don’t know what it is about them but when I see a pretty notebook I feel compelled to pick it up. I should find all of mine to show you, maybe i’ll write a blog post on the subject! aha I don’t make as much progress in mine because I am sentimental and don’t like to use up “pretty/unique” things aha. I’ve limited myself quite a bit in the past year or two when it comes to purchasing them but I predict a relapse ahahaha

    • July 29, 2012 8:02 PM

Haha!! Oh man – it seems that every girl is obsessed with notebooks. Good to know for Secret Santa’s (yes I’m already thinking of Christmas gifts!!) I totally want to see all of your notebooks, I love seeing notebooks of friends! Don’t worry I’m a bit of the same, most of mine are less than half full – my pink diary is actually not all the way finished. There’s still a few more pages, but I decided to end it, and keep it as a memory. :)

Chapters is the best for notebooks & stationary! ;)

Weallll, I stumbled onto your blog while searching for notebooks… So… You could say I’m obsessed. XD I have over 235 currently, and about half of them are empty. Maybe.. 50 of them are completely filled (or filled to retirement, anyway–some of them are from way back in 2004, when I started collecting). And, actually, my mother has forbidden me from buying any more notebooks. It’s gotten to be so bad that I have three huge crates and four Ikea shelf cubes full of notebooks…. Hee. Definitely obsessed. Lovely collection, by the way! ^.^

Leave me a comment, I love reading them & will definitely reply! :)
